Winged eyeliner is one makeup trend that is here to stay and we all love it. A perfect winged eyeliner can change the entire makeup game but if you have hooded eyes you probably have struggled with this specific trend. Yes, winged eyeliner does not look good on hooded eyes until and unless it is done carefully with certain variations to the typical bold wings. Now what is hooded eye? If your eyelid is slightly droopy or the skin above the eyelid is loose enough to hide the crease area you probably have hooded eyes. So here are a few tips and tricks that I have found helpful to create different looks over the years (read decade) to flaunt a winged eye liner look with hooded eyes using eyeliner or kajal.

Today I’ll share some makeup tricks. I have small hooded eyes and I have struggles with it for over a decade. Back then I had no idea why winged eyeliners don’t look good on me. As I grew up I tried experimenting with myself, found out that I have hooded eyes and created these looks over the time. Also I wear specs, so my eyes are slightly deep setting. But makeup is something that enhances our features. You should only look good and confident with makeup. Now let’s get started with this Look Book today.

1. The Soft Glam Wing Look

 

Since the crease is hidden in hooded eye so it is always necessary to go soft when drawing the eyeliner above the lash line. In other words draw a thin liner on the upper lash line so that even when you open the eyes (not only the wing but) the entire eyeliner remains visible and nothing gets hidden inside the hood. So basically lesser the crease shows thinner the liner should be on the lash line. You can keep the wing small or long, bold or thin as per your preference but the key is to go light on the upper lash line. 

 

2. The Everyday Wing Look

For a day to day look just tight line the eyes because it works the best for hooded eyes. Tight lining is drawing the lines of lash lines and waterlines with kajal or kohl. Avoid lining the waterlines if you have small eye it’ll make them appear smaller. Now draw a tiny wing using eyeliner or the same kohl pencil. Make sure to keep the wing very small and thin. The base of the wing should start from the outer corner of your eye. Now apply loads of mascara to make your eyes look bigger and open. You can do this everyday, it only takes 2 minutes but looks super good.

 

3. The Smudged Wing Look

This one is quite similar to the everyday wing look. All you gotta do is to tight line the eyes ( leave the water line if you have small eyes) and create a thin line along the upper lash line using kohl or kajal. Now smudge it out a little with a brush or q-tip keeping it sharp at the end to make it look like a smudged wing. You can go light or dark with the kajal, both will look good. Now apply loads of mascara and you are ready to step out.

 

 

4. The Bold Wing/ Full Glam Look

This one looks really good for parties and special occasions. Start with outlining the wing first, keep it low don’t go much high but keep it long. Once you have drawn the outlines of both the wings start joining it with the lash line and go till the inner corner with thin lining. Since this is a bold look so you have to use some kohl or liner in the lower lash line as well, even if you have small eyes. In that case you can use a white kajal on the water line and then use black kajal below the water line, or, if you do not have white kajal just smudge the kajal below the water line and apply highlighter half way to the water line from the inner corner. This works the best when you wan to flaunt a bold wing eyeliner with hooded eyes. You can apply falsies also to add some drama. The thin lines on the upper lash line does not disappear when you open the eyes and the bold wing draws the attention. Use a nude lip color with this to catch eyes with this look.

 

 

 

 

 

5. The Smokey Eyed Goddess Look

For this look you only need either a kohl or a kajal or a black eye shadow. First apply the product heavily on the crease to build the color. Now smudge it out till the outer portion of the crease but don’t go beyond the crease. Keep it dark at the lash line and lighter as you go up on the crease. Now clean the edges with a q-tip to wing it out if you want. This time also keep the slope of the wing low if you are drawing a wing. Now use some of the same product on the water line also and gently smoke it out. Use white kajal on the waterline to make small eyes look bigger and then apply black kajal below the white one. (To add some drama draw a super thin line using gold liquid liner through the upper lash line.)

 

 

 

6. The Cut Crease Look

Apply a lighter shade all over the eyelid. Follow look 1. Now start drawing the eyeliner upwards parallel to the crease from the wing. Since our eyelids are not that much visible due to the hood draw it on the crease. You can use colored eyeliners also. It is quite edgy and good for a party look.
