DIY Lip Balm For Chapped Lips/ Homemade Mint And Chocolate Lip Balm
Perfect lip stuff for chapped lips. Mint and chocolate are great for healing chapped,dry lips. You can easily do it by yourself by mixing some cocoa powder or chocolate and mint leaves with some lip healing ingredients. This homemade lip balm is one of the most moisturizing lip balms which doubles up as a hydrating lip gloss convenient enough to store because it won't go rancid.
Ingredients
- Cocoa Powder (dark/unsweetened) - 1 tsp
- Mint Leaves - 5 nos
- Coconut Oil (preferably organic) - 1 tbsp
- Vaseline Petroleum Jelly - 2 tbsp
How To Make
First make a double boiler to heat up and melt all the stuffs. To make the double boiler take some hot water in a bowl and then place another clean bowl over the hot water. This is to prevent direct heating as coconut oil is very prone to burn and catch fire if heated directly. Now add the coconut oil and mint leaves into the bowl and keep stirring it until the mint leaves turn brown completely.
Then strain it into a clean bowl and place that bowl over hot water again. At this stage the coconut oil will smell a bit minty. To this oil now add petroleum jelly and wait for it to melt completely. As soon as it melts drop the cocoa powder.
Give it a good stir for 20 seconds and pour it in a clean container where you are going to store it. Wait for the temperature to drop. Once it's cooled down completely close the lid and put it in the fridge for few minutes to get a solid lip balm like the store bought one. Make sure the container is air tight. This way it will last longer. You can keep it in the fridge or any dry place, this way it won't go rancid.
Now dip your fingers into this soft, super moisturizing lip balm and massage onto chapped, dry lips whenever you feel the need of it. I used it every night before bed and wake up with soft plump lips. This lip balm doubles up as a lip gloss as the petroleum jelly gives a glossy finish to my lips.

Although I love store bought lip balms but they always have some added dehydrating ingredients which make our lips crave for moisture so that we keep buying those products which is good for them but bad for us in the long run. Well, in my defense I'm totally okay to use the drugstore lip balms when I'm going out but my super dry lips need some real care all seasons and this easy recipe does this. So this one can help to cure extremely dehydrated, chapped lips.
