Are you suffering from scalp problems? Do you have dandruff and oily scalp? I have both. Trust me it is a task to take care of such scalp conditions because with oily scalp the dandruff does not show up as flakes but it sits in the scalp as a white cast which leads to smelly hair, hair fall, even hair loss. There are very few shampoos available in the Indian market that are specially designed for oily scalp. So I found this Biotique Bio Green Apple Fresh Daily Purifying Shampoo & Conditioner one fine day and after reading the claims I immediately bought it. It's been three months since I started using it so I think it's time to write about Biotique Bio Green Apple Shampoo today.

PACKAGING

Biotique Green Apple Shampoo comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a flip top cap. The bright green coloured shampoo is visible through the transparent bottle and that makes the packaging look more attractive. There are labels in front and back side of the bottle where claims, product descriptions, ingredients, price and all other details are written. The green flip cap is secure enough, there's no chance of leakage until the cap is flipped open. This shampoo comes in three different sizes of 100 ml, 200 ml and 400 ml priced at Rs.79, Rs.155 and Rs.299 respectively. The 100 ml bottle is convenient for carrying while travelling. 

INGREDIENTS

The label in the bottle reads " Bio Green Apple Contains: Apple Juice-2.0%, Chinnai Ghas Plant-1.0%, Manduk Parni Plant-2.0%, Shikakai Pulp-1.0%, Grit Kumari Juice-1.0%, Badam Oil-1.0%, Coconut Oil-2.0%, Purified Water Q.S."

CLAIMS

Biotique Advanced Ayurveda claims all their products are ayurvedic recipe, contain 100% botanical extracts, not cosmetic products, have therapeutic properties. The sme is written in this bottle too. Now coming to the claims of this specific product, the label reads "This refreshing formula is blended with pure green apple extract, sea algae and centella, to purify and nourish the scalp and hair with natural minerals and proteins. Special pH balanced formula is gentle enough to use every day. Leaves hair refreshed and full of natural body and shine."

MY TAKE ON BIOTIQUE GREEN APPLE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

This is the third bottle that I'm using, so you can easily guess how much love this shampoo. I bought the 100 ml bottle when I purchased it for the first time just to see if it works well as per the claims. The moment I opened the cap I got this amazing smell of green apple. It smells delicious. I took only a small amount of this shampoo and started lathering it up. It lathered well but not like those SLS containing shampoos which felt good. After washing my hair I could feel my scalp was squeaky clean from the first wash. Back then (May, 2018) I had very short hair so conditioning was not required. My hair felt soft and bouncy. Within a week my hair became softer, shinier and I did not experience hair fall. The best part was the bad odour was not there even after a busy day spent outdoors. Even heavily oiled hair was cleaned properly with this shampoo but in that case I washed my hair twice for that extra clean feeling. So the shampoo does what it claims. I have been using this shampoo since then for over three months now. My hair has grown four inches in these three months so now I feel the need to condition my hair after wash, and hair fall has reduced considerably, so it does treat oily scalp and dandruff. After every wash my hair smells so good and stays fresh throughout the day, although the smell of green apple fades after few hours.

CONS

1. Not enough conditioning for long hair. Need to condition separately.
2. No separate conditioner available from this range.
3. Only the active ingredients are listed in the labels. No mention of the ingredients of the shampoo base.   

CONCLUSION

As I said earlier, there are very few shampoos available in The Indian market for oily scalp conditions. All the anti-dandruff shampoos are extremely harsh on hair and very drying at the same time. This shampoo is gentle enough for hair but cleanses oily scalp effectively. Even if it claims it is gentle enough for daily use shampooing your hair everyday is not a good idea, eventually it dries hair out. I use it thrice a week. Overall I love this shampoo very much. I have recommended this to my friends also and they all loved it. Even my mom has started using this shampoo after seeing the results on my hair. This a good product, one can definitely go for this shampoo. It won't harm your hair as compared to other anti-dandruff shampoos.
